Will you Go with the Flow?

Try me on this; how many of us have a habit of peeping inside the refrigerator? and sometimes for no reason, or sometimes trying to find options to eat; I am sure we’ll have a majority! Its our natural attraction towards food that brings the refrigerator close to our hearts. As kids however we enjoyed refrigerators much more during summers. It wasn’t just the food, there was also that invigorating gush of cool breeze taking us straight to the Arctic away from belabour of the scorching sun. It used to be fascinating to me, not to mention my amusement was supplemented further due to scarcity of air conditioners in that era in our country. Don’t know about the rich kids, perhaps they never get to enjoy the pleasures of the unintellectual divertissements of childhood & adolescence. There was however another component of the refrigerator that used to amuse me. Well I refer to it as a component of the refrigerator as that was the only useful application of it I knew. It was the refrigerator that helped me get to it and understand an undiluted yet ignored truth of life. It were the magnets we stuck on it! Now tell me you have never done that as a kid.

Well for me, refrigerator is primarily where I learnt of the Magnets, physics text book came in second. Magnets are charming objects in themselves and they definitely resemble humans a lot. The term he/she is “magnetic” is just apt, but what I mean here is something different in terms of correlation. Once I bought two rectangular magnets similar in dimension; I tried to join them together only to realize that I can only join them from a particular side whereas the other sides just didn’t get along. I forced, initially enjoying the play and later getting frustrated trying to join those ends which simply weren’t ready to combine! God, they behaved like those quivering girls who just won’t compromise at all with each other in event of a fight.. please no offence, I love girls! Let me put it this way; it was happening on both sides, so, the other two similar sides were like men duelling with each other with no sign of giving up either. I hated war even then! However, when I joined the magnet’s personified male side to the female one, they stuck with an inseparable impulsion. Aah! there you go; I understood what love as an instinct was! Later at school, physics classes helped me understand it technically! Don’t be appalled, we’ll talk about my admirations later and also I won’t read out magnetism to you as thats not the topic. It is however important to understand the movement of force in relation to human instincts. The way a magnet behaves is “Nature”, and honestly, I haven’t seen a more lively non-living object similar to the magnet. It helps me look at the way humans behave with others and I don’t mean the relation with opposite sex; we like some, dislike some! so what gives us this attraction & repulsion? what groups us and at the same time separates us? Was this instinct the foundation of different religions, regionalism, casteism,  and several other forms of differentiation? Well, maybe not!
Apparently we must condone that we are living magnets and our overvalued intelligence only acts to deface our instincts trying hard to differentiate us from others. Our magnitudes are different but we fail to acknowledge the fact that our "magnetic charges" i.e. the thoughts, flow in the same direction under different sobriquets.

There is a corollary to this, what happens when similar forces of equal magnitudes relentlessly strike against one another? Answer is simple, they kill each other! On the contrary opposite forces of similar magnitude neutralise each other and co-exist. BINGO! Now we know that the force always moves towards co-existence and that is the nature of it exhibited everywhere. It is however our “Free-Will” that contraindicates and deviates from the natural flow prompting us to experiment joining like poles of magnets; take that as a metaphor! This is what defines the grotesquenesses in us where we are thankfully rescued by our survival instinct.

We can replicate this corollary in various situations in our day to day life. We need to understand the need to discipline our free-will to be able to determine which pole of the magnet are we at vis a vis the other and to be able to mix and co-exist. This doesn’t mean we bear with the other or sacrifice for the other, it simply acknowledges the fact that we need to be together, we need to respect each other for being a part of a balanced system. As the nature of the force is, we are instinctual of balance, yet our imagination and free will does everything to disrupt it. We cause war, rather than development. The religion we created to understand the force works to segregate us from one another. We can’t bear the fact that one form of thought which may be different from ours can be correct as well and exists to promote balance. We disregard the force at every level and countless of our lives suffer everyday because of a simple misunderstanding that we are not above what we are made off!

There is an interesting term called harmony used by some of us who overcame this headlock. Do we really understand what this means? Would a magnet be a magnet if electrons refused to flow alongside each other in one common direction owing to some misplaced notion of self righteousness (physics aside)? As humans, we’ll possess more attraction if we learn to be in harmony because we are the ones with some genuine IQ aren’t we? Harmony not just between species of the same kind but with the entire biosphere & universe.

Let us learn to be in harmony with the force that created us, let us learn to attract; after all, being attractive is a gift from the divine! So I ask, will you Go with the Flow?
